For decades toxic chemicals have indeed been used in similar products to protect dogs from the discomfort and diseases brought on by parasites.

Unfortunately, a side effect of these popular medicated collars is that they can be harmful to both your pet and the environment.

That's why here at DEWEL™ PRO we looked for a solution to offer the similar effect of repelling ticks and fleas without the use of chemical additives.

The result was to create our very own collar based around all-natural essential oil active ingredients. This powerful blend of organic oils repels pests by intoxicating the sensory system, causing disorientation.

But just as importantly, these well known, well researched organic oils are far safer than chemical alternatives which means you can worry less about allergic reactions, itchy rashes or irritated skin on your four-legged fur baby!

What are fleas?

Fleas are small insects about 1-2 mm in length. Adult fleas live in the coat and bedding of dogs, cats and other animals and feed on their blood. The female adult lays eggs (up to 500 per flea per day!) which roll off the animal into the environment, and then hatch into larvae. The larvae burrow into the carpet or soft furnishings, or into any small crevices, then form a sticky cocoon and enter the pupae stage. The pupae can stay in this state for up to two years. The adult flea will only emerge once it senses that there is a suitable host nearby (using signals such as vibration and carbon dioxide levels). The new adult flea then uses its powerful legs to jump onto the passing animal and start the cycle all over again.

How can I tell if my dog has fleas?

Close examination of your dog may reveal these small, black insects moving rapidly through your dogs’ coat. If there are few fleas present, only flea dirt may be evident which will appear as small, black specks. This is actually flea faeces, which is passed through the insect after sucking blood from your dog. To confirm the presence of fleas, use a fine-toothed flea comb and comb through the dog’s coat. Use a damp piece of cotton wool to pick up any black specks you comb out of the coat. If it is flea dirt, the specks will turn reddish-brown as the blood pigment dissolves.

Some dogs may tolerate fleas well, with only very slight scratching. Others can show a severe allergic reaction to both flea bites and flea saliva. This can result in intense scratching and chewing of neck, ears, thighs and base of the tail. Your dog may also spin around quickly to chew itself when the flea bites. In extreme cases, your dog’s skin may start to scale and discolour. Hair loss and secondary bacterial infections may also occur.

I have never had a flea problem before. Where are my pets picking up fleas?

Fleas are very hardy pests that are quite capable of hitching rides on a variety of mammals. Wild animals or feral pets traveling through the environment may be a source for a pet’s exposure.Fleas may be brought to the house by: * You – attached to clothing, luggage, dog blankets, etc. * Your pet – any time your pet steps outside your house, they are potentially exposed to fleas, especially in areas where there are other animals. * Stray or homeless cats and dogs – since these animals are not being cared for, they are easy targets for fleas. A single feral cat walking through your backyard even just one time may drop many flea eggs into the grass or under shrubs. * Wildlife – particularly raccoons and opossums. These animals typically aren’t seen very often, because they are active at night. A single opossum can carry as many as 1,000 adult fleas! An opossum walking through your backyard even just one time can drop many flea eggs into the grass or under shrubs as they pass through. * Non-treated pets in the household – most dogs are treated for fleas and ticks. Often, the cats in the household are not, especially if they are indoor only cats. * Non-treated pets in the neighborhood – you may be vigilant about treating your pets for fleas, but your neighbor(s) may not.

How Should The Collar Be worn?

  • It should fit snugly and make contact with the skin
  • Make it's sure the dog cannot remove it
  • Follow the two-finger rules to keep your dog easy
  • Always cut off the addition length
  • Dispose off cut off pieces carefully and do not allow to fall it in the hand of kids
  • Keep monitoring your dog for skin irritation and hair loss
  • Change the collar after 8 months when it becomes ineffective

When not to use DEWEL™ PRO Collar?

Our flea & tick collar is completely safe, but that does not mean it can be used in all conditions and stages. They are conditions when we don't strongly recommend our collar to be used like:

# Puppies below 10 weeks

# Dogs with serious skin conditions

# Dogs in the recovery stage

When can I bathe my dog after application of DEWEL™ PRO for dogs?

We recommend bathing BEFORE applying product. DEWEL™ PRO is water-resistant and remains effective following a shampoo treatment, swimming or after exposure to rain or sunlight. Under normal conditions, effectiveness lasts for 8 months. In order to maintain an eight-month duration, dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to 5 months for flea control and reduced to 7 months for tick control. There is no need to remove the collar for bathing. Please use a non-stripping, pet shampoo.
